Searching for the wow factor became the inspiration for this business...
I'm a
long-time sushi addict who has been fortunate enough to have spent many a happy
hour eating fantastic sushi in Japan and in California. The more I grew to love
the ‘wow’ experience of eating really good sushi, the more frustrating it was
that I couldn’t find it at home. I became so desperate that I decided to learn
to make sushi myself.
I figured that the Japanese ex-pat community must suffer the same problem, so towards the end of the 90s I started searching out Japanese food shops in London.
I soon found a great supplier of sushi/sashimi quality fish and other Japanese ingredients,
so with a few recipe books and some basic equipment I started my journey of discovery.
Subsequent trips to Japan became a goldmine of information; watching the various techniques employed by the sushi masters,
visits to Tokyo’s Tsukiji fish market (and the nearby sushi bars - sushi for breakfast anyone?),
discovering authentic ingredients and (of course) eating many memorable meals along the way!
Friends and family who tried my sushi kept asking for more.
I honed my skills... started catering for parties... one thing led to another... and now I'm ready to share my passion for sushi with you.
I hope you enjoy it!
